Swaggart
3/25/05

She's the kind of person
noticed only in pedestrian crosswalks,
and she knows this and with bitterness,
exploits it fully.

She makes traffic stop because she can.
She crosses the street slowly,
    diagonally,
with the swaggart she otherwise cannot have.

But this power begins and ends
between painted white stripes,
and the changing of the light,
and is not about celebrating her life,
but waiting for it to scurry away.
